Installation Instructions:

  • Drill hole with 160 mm(+/-3mm) (6 5/16" +/-1/8") diameter in the mounting surface. Open the cover of the junction box and hard wire it just as any conventional pot light fixture. Junction box has 2 half inch knock outs on the opposite sides. Cable connectors are not included.
  • Connect the driver to the light fixture before powering the driver. Insert the light fixture into the hole while holding the retaining springs in upright position. Done - it is that easy.
  • You can extend the the low voltage cable between the driver and the light fixture and install all drivers at one location. Wire size should be calculated depending on the length. Following are the maximum extension lengths for the cable between the driver and the fixture:
    AWG 18: max 4 metres (13'); AWG 17: max 6 metres (20'); AWG 16: max 8 metres (26'); AWG 15: max 16 m (52')
  • Recessed pot can (housing) is not included and it is not necessary. Light fixture is type IC which means that insulation can touch it directly. Driver is inside the junction box that comes with the light fixture. It is not possible to connect more than one fixture to one driver, neither to substitute several drivers with one bigger.
  • These Recessed LED Lights are air-tight and suitable for damp locations.
    Vapour barrier can be done by applying acoustic caulking on the inside trim surface and installing plastic film on the top of the fixture.

* Dimmable - compatible with all incandescent, CFL and LED dimmers that we have tested. We recommend using dimmers for CFL / LED because you can customize the minimum dimming range depending on the number of lights per dimmer and the actual line voltage at the location.
Do not install where directly exposed to water.

We used 41 of these 6" warm white lights for the entire basement renovation. Since our basement is only 7'6" high we were looking for a lighting solution that does not hang below the ceiling (or even flush-mount) so these lights fitted the bill nicely. Unlike traditional pot lights that can be installed only where the joists configuration allows, these half-inch thin LEDs can be installed directly under the joists if needed, thus allowing desirable layout. Depending on the room, we spaced them 4' to 5' from each other in a rectangular pattern (slightly less, 2' to 3' from the walls) which, considering 120 degrees beam width angle, provides sufficient light coverage at the eye level of a standing average person, and abundant light level at the desk/table surface where the beams overlap. Almost all the rooms in our basement have the lights split between two switches to have more or less light as needed; some areas have also dimmers for even more granular control over the brightness. Very happy with the results. Excellent service and fast delivery was a bonus.

I purchased 9 of these lights for a kitchen renovation and I'm extreemly pleased with the result. Excellent warm light, very bright if needed and dimable when not. Very easy to install.
